ARTECHOUSE’s Blooming Wonders: A Celebration of Spring

ARTECHOUSE has become a leading name in immersive storytelling and transcendent experiential art. Committed to pushing the boundaries of digital creativity, the team has produced numerous acclaimed, award-winning installations — from Peak, Bloom, and Submerge to Life of a Neuron, each a trailblazing work in its own right.

Founded in 2015, ARTECHOUSE now operates four locations across the U.S. I was lucky enough to experience the opening of BLOOMING WONDERS: A Celebration of Spring at ARTECHOUSE NYC, and it made for the perfect, uplifting introduction to the freshness and renewal of spring.

BLOOMING WONDERS

Close your eyes and imagine spring.

What does it look like?

What does it sound like?

How does it make you feel?

Blooming Wonders dives straight into these questions. It captures the beauty, motion, and transformative energy of the season through a vivid, multimedia dreamscape.

Nearly every piece encouraged me to tune more deeply into the quiet magic of the natural world, both inside the gallery and beyond. So many details drew me in and held my attention. I especially loved the photo booth, where guests could capture their experience — and even pick their own themed backdrop.

The art felt transportive, lifting me into a realm of floral enchantment. I was filled with joyful wonder as I watched my own silhouette blend into parts of the installation, becoming part of the art itself. The immersive botanical atmosphere followed me everywhere — even all the way to the bar.

XR Bar

The venue’s Extended Reality (XR) Bar serves carefully crafted cocktails and mocktails that are far from ordinary. For one thing, they’re delicious. For another, every drink embodies the vibrant, ever-changing energy of spring.

I tried the Timeless Butterfly, infused with jasmine and chamomile. As I stirred the drink, its layered colors shifted and blended, almost alchemically, into a single, flowing expression of the season.

Using the official ARTECHOUSE XR mobile app, guests can watch art bloom right on their phones, as 2D visuals transform into fully realized 3D scenes. This extra layer keeps visitors engaged and present, making the experience feel continuous and expansive — not limited to one moment or one space.

Interview with Chloe Myers, Director of Visitor Engagement

How does ARTECHOUSE select artists to work with?

Artists are curated around the theme of each exhibition or our collaborative partners. What makes ARTECHOUSE unique is that we also have a full in-house studio team that specializes in immersive and interactive media.

We partner with artists at all stages of their careers. Some come to us with a fully formed exhibition concept but few places that can support large-scale immersive work — so we team up to bring their vision to life. We hosted the U.S. debut of Refik Anadol, and we’ve supported many other artists in the same way, acting as a platform for their work.

Other artists we work with specialize in animations for web or social media, and want to adapt their style to a massive, immersive format. We collaborate with them to expand their existing work into this new medium.

We seek out artists doing something distinctive, or using a process that hasn’t gotten widespread attention. That’s what keeps ARTECHOUSE feeling fresh — we’re always showing something unexpected. Even with Blooming Wonders, the experience at noon looks completely different than it does at 7 PM.

Above all, we want to connect audiences with art, so we work with creators who share that passion. The work people bring to us is incredible, and experiencing it at this scale is something you just can’t get by scrolling social media.

What is the difference between the exhibition during the day and at night?

Our daytime showing of Blooming Wonders is a 22-minute immersive celebration of spring, and it’s the only experience in the main gallery during those hours. If you’re looking for a light, floral, uplifting escape, this is the perfect visit.

In the evenings, we also feature SUBMERGE BEYOND THE RENDER, created in partnership with the Render Network. This platform gives independent artists access to tools that were once only available to huge studios like Pixar or major tech companies.

Artists no longer need massive budgets or infrastructure to create high-fidelity work — the Render Network makes it possible in a fraction of the time, with far fewer resources.

The show features 14 artists, each presenting a three-minute piece. It’s an incredible range of styles and aesthetics: one moment you’re in a surreal water dreamscape, the next a mysterious face materializes. Another installation feels like stepping inside an anime, created by two Emmy Award–winning artists.

We also have immersive visuals from David Ariew, a renowned visual artist who has designed visuals for Zedd, giving parts of the show a dynamic, EDM-concert energy. The side installations stay consistent, but the main gallery experience shifts dramatically between day and night.

What was the thought process of connecting Spring with this exhibition?

The idea started at our original location in Washington, D.C., which has a deep cultural connection to cherry blossoms. Every year, we honor that tradition with a floral or cherry-blossom-themed exhibition. As ARTECHOUSE expanded to New York, Houston, and beyond, we wanted to carry that tradition forward.

It feels especially meaningful in New York, where we don’t always get to surround ourselves with full, blooming nature. This exhibition is like an endless spring — the flowers never fade, and the space stays warm and comfortable, which is a welcome contrast to the still-chilly weather outside.
